When Carrie Bradshaw first appeared on my television screen, I only knew one thing: that’s SJP, and SJP has great hair. Fast forward 30 minutes and Carrie became my idol. Malolno Bloniks, a column in The New York Star, a fabulous, rent-controlled apartment in the Upper East Side: I wanted her life. And her friends. I was officially addicted to “Sex and the City.”
Since the first airing I’ve watched every episode of “Sex and the City” (more than three times) and have gone to see Sex and the City: The Movie and Sex and the City 2. I will also flock to theaters to see Sex and the City 3. That’s right, gals. There’s rumors that a third installment is happening.
Just yesterday, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis tweeted this:
And SJP posted this on her Instagram.
It was take your @sjpcollection shoes to work day. #longdayforCarrie #whewwwwthosesteps #runninginheels #taxi!
They are hinting. Hard. I’m ready to be in my corner seat in the middle row – popcorn in hand – on opening night.
Other women are too. Despite the terrible reviews for Sex and the City 2 and the incredulous story line (like random Arab women would rescue Americans and reveal designer threads under caftans) many of you will sit right beside me at the theater. Why? Cause it’s Carrie and the girls, baby. And other logical reasons.
The Perfect Girls Night Out
As women we have a lot on our plate. The more we mature the busier we become and see our friends less. Sex and the City 3 can become your perfect one-day reprieve from the hustle and bustle. Or as Meli Gonzalo from Los Angeles put it, “It’s the ultimate girls’ night out!”
Curiosity killed the cat and women are meowing for what’s next. Cristina Pimentel from The Fuschia Files said it best: “I’m very interested to how far this story can really go. It’s so iconic, how much more can you push? I’ll be there in my best shoes!” What will occur in part 3? Will Carrie try for a baby? Will Samantha open up a sex emporium? We will have to watch to find out.
Ride or Die Fans
Carrie and the girls could sit there and apply makeup for two hours and many of us would still watch. Elise Englander from Queens stated this like a true fan: “I fell in love with the series and the characters. So any chance I can get more of Sex and the City I am down!” As am I.
I’ve have great friends, but I’ve never had a ride or die crew like Carrie. A group of girls that stick together for years, through boyfriends, babies and the fast-paced life of New York City. I’ve come close but no cigar. Their friendship on screen drives me to see Sex and the City over and over again, and that includes going to see Sex and the City 3.
All About The Shoes
Sex and the City somehow made shoes more popular. Some women will watch Sex and the City 3 for the fashion. “There are heels to be worn and cocktails to be had,” said Yanira Garza from Chicago. “Thank goodness for the VIP bar at Muvico.” Drinks for all, darling.
