Hmmm, I don’t think so. Next!
DECEMBER 13 – ACTION: When it comes to aspirations, it’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen. What’s your next step?
Two days ago, I sat next to my easygoing, eclectic colleague and began discussing creativity and our unique talents. During that conversation, I told him I’m a writer, singer, comedic entertainer, and that I would love to have a radio show and/or TV show. Well, guess what happened next, pepitas? He just so happened to have a friend who is producing and staring in her own show on Manhattan Neighborhood Network. This friend went through their free training program and now she has her own show! Once he told me about MNN, I went onto their website and signed up for an orientation. I will be coming to a TV near you Manhattanites!
As for the rest of my intentions, I am still writing Love Trips (the book) and plan to attend open mics to share some of the pieces. This way people will anticipate the book before it’s published. It will also help me build my mailing list and fan base. Once the book it’s complete, I will send my first draft to three individuals to read so they can provide feedback. Then it’s the final draft, self-publishing, and promoting my ass as diligently as a hooker at the point!
One last thing. My cousin knows someone who has a connection with a radio show. I’m finishing my reel so I can send it to him. I will be on the FM/AM radio waves in 2011! It will be a beautiful year!
DECEMBER 14 – APPRECIATE: What’s the one thing you have come to appreciate most in the past year? How do you express gratitude for it?
I’ve come to appreciate so much this past year, including the love and support of family, my God given talents, being a creative being, having a J-O-B that I enjoy, and a receiving a check into my account biweekly (cha-ching!). I express gratitude in various ways. With family, I now tell them how much I love them, something that was a difficult feat once upon a (Sujeiry) time. I make time for them and put my family before my friends. I listen, am supportive, and am consistent. My family knows I am there in times of greatness and in times of need.
I show gratitude for my talents and creativity by utilizing them daily. I am now writing every day. I am working on being on air, television, and radio. I am also taking steps to be creative in other art forms including taking knitting classes, drawing at home, and vlogging (yes, I am filming parodies and comedic videos again!). To top it off, I am focused on becoming a brand (1st Lady of Love, pepitas!), where I can use ALL my talents in business and entertainment.
Not doing so would be like an insult to God.
As for my job, I show gratitude by doing the best work I know how and respecting staff members and students. The check is always appreciated and that appreciation is expressed by my spending money! I’m still a bit frugal but it feels amazing to buy an article of clothing or an extra drink because I can! I can’t wait to show my fuller bank account gratitude while on a Caribbean vacation.
