I’ve never been into name brands. Maybe it’s because I was raised with little money and, in turn, very humbly. I can’t imagine spending 5K on a Hermes bag. Even when I am a millionaire (it will happen!) I will find it difficult to spend money like it literally grows on trees.
Instead of going on ten thousand dollar shopping spree, I shop at neighborhood stores and national stores like Target, Marshall’s, and H&M. Designer brands within a budget – that’s how I’ve always shopped till I dropped.
There is one designer, however, that moves me and the dollars in my wallet. Michael Kors. Blame Project Runway or my friend Helen’s influence (she has the best threads); I am addicted to his clothing and particularly his handbags. I have yet to by a Michael Kors bag. Sure, I can get one at an affordable price at Marshall’s or Century 21 in the Upper West Side. But I promised myself to never buy Michael Kors unless I can pay full price. I want to purchase a Michael Kors handbag because I can, not because I saved money. That money will come from disposable income, not a savings account, and definitely not a money tree. One of his handbags will be my gift to myself when I have really made it professionally.
Here are 5 of my favorite Michael Kors’ handbags. I can’t wait to rock them and stuff them with my millions.
