I’ve attempted to center myself in the past, to no avail. Aside from sleep, my high energy and buzzing mind fight any form of relaxation. I can’t even relax when getting a massage at a spa. Though my body lies flat on a table, my thoughts run rampant. I hope she doesn’t rub me there, I think. Ooh, that tickles! I fight to say, holding in a giggle. And then there are the thoughts about my day and the decisions and moves that must be made.
This failure to shut down the brain usually brings on stress. And, though I don’t stress like most folks I know (hair loss, weight gain, and moodiness), I do get killer headaches and back aches due to tension.
That is not conducive to good work and success.
So, in an effort to keep motivated and doing great work, I have built a meditation corner.
The meditation corner will be where I, you guessed it, meditate. I want to learn to stay in the present moment in order to embrace all the good in my life now, rather than stressing about a future I am unaware of. Today my meditation begins. And at buen tiempo. I woke up exhausted with a migraine and with tight shoulders and lower back. Today, I will center myself, if only to allow this brilliant mind to rest for a moment.
What do you do to relax and center yourself?
