Let’s Get Physical! 4 Ways to Find Motivation to Exercise

Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you slack off on your exercise regimen. Here are ways to find motivation to work out even when hitting a slump.

Whether you have a wedding dress to slim down for, you’re dying for a bronze bikini body, or you just want to get healthy, there are many ways to tackle this lifestyle change. First, you must begin with a personal goal. Maybe you want to lose 10 pounds or fit into that sexy bodycon dress. That goal is the spark and will serve as motivation to get you slim and toned by any (healthy) means necessary!

But, let’s be real. When exercising, usually we are pumped and inspired, and just like that we’re in a slump. You catch yourself grabbing an extra slice of red velvet cake. Or go out drinking on a Saturday night and sleep in the next morning instead of jogging. These are the moments when you’ll need all the support you can get. And I have the mujer for you.

1. Find your why.Why do you want to get healthy? The reason for you lifestyle change should be more that a number on the scale. It should be because you want to be healthy! This should be your number one motivator. You have to have a deeper reason than losing weight, or you will pile the weight back on.

2. Wardrobe goal. A great way to motivate yourself is to choose an item from your wardrobe(or a new dress you just purchased) and visualize yourself in the dress once you are healthier. Hang it up on the wall like a shrine, or on the first row of your closet. Make sure it’s constantly in your line of vision to serve as a reminder.

3Pictures.Choose a photo of yourself where you were at your best body shape. But be realistic – you cannot be 16 again! Make that picture your goal! Put it on the fridge or in your wallet. It may stop you from grabbing that extra donut.

4. Write it out.Jotting down why you want to make this change will help you get your thoughts together. Once you finish up hang it on your bedroom wall to serve as a reminder of what you’re trying to achieve. Visuals are the best motivators.

No matter what you do remember that working out is about you. Get healthy. Feel better about yourself. Soon enough that picture on your fridge will be you in the present moment.
