I don’t enjoy being bare down there. I want to feel like a woman, man. Being hairless in my neither region makes me feel like a newborn baby. But I also don’t want to grow out my hair like a Neanderthal. The only braiding will occur on my head!
So, what’s a gal to do? I’ve settled for keeping it tidy. Still, it’s a process. I suffer from follucitis so I can’t shave or wax or do much of anything without acquiring an ingrown hair. I’ve been to my gyno many times fearing the worst. She looks at me and says, “It’s just another infected ingrown hair, Sujeiry.” Phew!
Now that I know my pepa is as sensitive as a nursing mom’s nipples, I take extra time to care for her parts when grooming. Here are some things that I do to stay groomed while avoiding those damn ingrown hairs.
Exfoliating is the best and the first step to preventing ingrown hairs. A great one is BLISS Ingrown Eliminating Pads ($38). I used it when waxing and never got an ingrown hair once. If you don't have the money or time to buy product, you can make your own. All you need is brown sugar and olive oil. Mix it all in a plastic cup or small bowl and you are set. Rub your home-made exfoliant on your bikini area and grab a loofah. Scrub gently. Do this right before you shave (after soaking in lukewarm water) and a day after you shave.
