How To Be Your Own Princess and Spoil Yourself

Just because you’re an adult woman doesn’t mean you can’t spoil yourself. Here’s how to be a princess.

Once upon a time in a faraway land called My Living Room a little girl stared in awe at the television. She watched beautiful princesses from other faraway lands grace her screen. The little girls favorite princesses were Pocahontas and Princess Jasmine. So strong, poised, and happy, they were heroines that eventually fell in love with their beloved princes.

As young girls, many of us dreamt of becoming princesses ourselves – it was every girls fantasy! Our parents encouraged many of us as well: monmy and daddy’s little princesses – no questions asked. So, when did this magical notion disappear? Oh, probably when adulthood happened. With responsibilities and obstacles that never seem to go away we are constantly stressed. Personally, I am working while researching graduate schools. I rarely have time to tend to Courtney.

I am slowly realizing how important that is. Pampering ourselves, ladies, keeps the craziness from breaching the surface. Let us practice self-care to unleash our inner princess. Follow these tips to spoil yourself.

1. Beauty yourself.

Hair, nails, eyebrows – get it all done! I know this is going to sound weird but it feels like I get a head transplant after I go to the salon. I get this urge to wave like a queen whenever someone walks by. Freshly washed locks can give you that type of confidence boost.

Getting a mani and pedi is also something you can do to reward yourself after a long week. If you go to the right nail salon, they may even serve you wine! Finally, your eyebrows. Ladies, you will be surprised what perfectly-shaped eyebrows can do to your face. Great eyebrows bring out your great eyes. So whether you’re a waxer, plucker, or threader, keep those brows clean. You don’t want to look like a fur ball.

2. Take a spa day.

Give yourself a natural glow with a spa session. Start with a great massage. By a man. Okay, so it doesn’t have to be a male masseuse. Although personally, that’s a plus for me. Regardless, just make sure to relax. Get some lavender-scented oils rubbed all over your body to loosen up sore muscles and feel rejuvenated. Once done you will be ready to take on the world like the princess that you are.

And on your way to take on that world, get a wax! I’m a Brazilian fan myself. I love the strut I have (after the pain wears off, of course) once my goods are as bald as a newborns.

3. Have a date night.

Put on a pretty dress that shows off your killer curves and go out on a fun date. You’ll feel self-assured while he dotes on you and tells you how beautiful you are, even though you already know it.

4. Go hang out with your parents.

This might be the best and most inexpensive way to make you feel like royalty. Parents give us unconditional love. They teach us that we are important to them and the world. Just like when we were little girls fantasizing about being princesses, our parents still encourage us, provide us with a strong sense of self, and reassure us that we are beautiful inside and out.  Spending time with my family feels like sitting in that faraway land once again.
