So you want to date a sugar daddy…
At a time where the majority of our thoughts are on money, it isn’t a shock that females are looking for Sugar Daddies. Stereotypes and side comments are no longer a deterrent for women and society seems to be behind this current trend. Websites like seekingarrangement.com are backing females who have chosen this lifestyle by making the search process a lot easier.
After chatting with Bendu Coleman, one of my closest friends who has considered a Sugar Daddy, I learned why females might consider this path.
“When I got to college…going to school and paying bills is rough, I feel like having a Sugar Daddy would have made it easier” she states.
The weekly or monthly allowance that a female receives from her Sugar Daddy may just be the biggest draw. But what do you have to give to get a Sugar Daddy hooked?
“…If I really want a a Sugar Daddy I gotta be willing to give up the sugar and I don’t know if I’m real enough for that,” Coleman continues. Aside from the fear of getting down with a pepaw, Sugar Daddies are usually not a long-term solution, especially if a woman wants a family.
“It’s not a realistic option [for me] considering I want kids.”
But the appeal is there. Strong and independent women have secured Sugar Daddies, but it doesn’t always work for long term. Women age and Sugar Daddies find the next young thang who are ready and willing.
So it seems that women are on the hunt for a Sugar Daddy to get closer to what they really want – security and even success. In a still male-dominated world, it’s not using someone, it’s being resourceful!
“It’s a lot of fun if you decide to embrace those benefits – he may have the networking means to get you to where you really want to be” Ashley, a 26-year-old shares with me. “The guidelines are there. What you expect. What he expects. For some, it may also be about her setting some boundaries for herself. No more heartbreak.”
Lesson: Who cares about what some think about your lifestyle? If you’re comfortable and happy, go after it – be a woman about it and own it.
