When single I loathed Valentine’s Day. I’d sit in my room, weeping about not having a man and listening to R&B songs. Or corta venas, as Dominicans call them. When I wasn’t indoors I’d look longingly at women carrying bouquets and chocolates. It didn’t even matter if they were roses (my least favorite flower) or chocolates from Rite Aid. I wanted a man to show me loooooove!
For the last three years I’ve had that special someone – Boo – but I care less about Valentine’s Day now that I am in a relationship. That’s why this year Boo and I aren’t going out to celebrate. Still, I need to make it special. With a baby and life getting busier by the minute, spending quality time together as a couple is key. So I’ve decided to DIY a Valentine’s Day date night in. Here are some ideas if you want to follow suit:
Favorite Movie Night
You can’t go wrong with a movie! Spend Valentine’s Day watching 2 of your fave flicks. To be fair, you pick one and your partner picks one. If time is limited, just watch one that you both adore. Watch while you munch of popcorn. To make these cute popcorn boxes, go to Brit.com.
Switch it up and get freaky in a love fort. That’s your next bet when you don’t want to spend a fortune on a hotel but you still want to spice up your relationship. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3. Just put up a sheet and put lots of fluffy pillows inside to make it the coziest love fort ever. More details over at Design Sponge.
Spin the Bottle
Take it old school with spin the bottle! I never played as a teenager cause 1) I was a late bloomer and 2) ugly boys! (I’ve been picky since birth.) Now, I have a boy just for me that I love making out with. Check out details on how to create your own spin the bottle game for you and bae over at Dating Divas. Bonus: free printables!
