Being single is nothing to sulk over. You just have to suck it up and embrace your independence. Then there’s that fateful day in February that puts you in a funk. While couples treat each other with romantic gestures, you want to pop their Happy Valentine’s Day balloon.
Let’s not. This year celebrate Galentines Day! I do so by combining three things that I love: lots of wine, take out from Pei Wei Restaurant, and romantic comedies. No man needed!
Why would you want to watch romantic movies on a day when you’re reminded you’re single? Well, this list of movies will help you appreciate the fact that you’re single, or simply remind you that the best is yet to come. You just need to be patient. I have to admit, I need reminding every now and again.
Bring on the empowerment and laughs! Watch these romcom movies to forget your single status. Leave your salty tears at the bottom of a wine glass.
How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days
Why: This movie allows you to get your LOL’s in while watching a driven female go toe-to-toe with a hunky womanizer. And drive him crazy. Also, it’s so great to see the heroine get the guy with pure confidence and wild shenanigans.
Waiting To Exhale
Why: Reminiscing with a group of your best girlfriends about the horrible men of the past – over food, drinks, tears, and no judgement – is the best way to let go…and exhale.
He’s Just Not That Into You
Why: The final line at the end of the movie says it all: “maybe a happy ending doesn’t include a guy, maybe it’s you picking up the pieces and starting over, freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is just moving on.”
Bridget Jones’s Diary
Why: The embarrassing situations in this movie make you feel better about yourself. The writer in me loves how the main character documents her progress and personal growth. The hilarious commentary makes for a great laugh.
Never Been Kissed
Why: This movie is for those who feel left behind by those friends that are steamrolling into adulthood. They are getting engaged, married, or having kids. Have no fear, Josie Geller waited all that time just to be kissed. I think I can wait a few more years for marriage and babies.
Why: Sometimes things don’t work out the way you always imagined. So when it doesn’t, try and keep hope alive. This is one of my favorite movies as it reminds me that there is always something better when you’re ready to accept it.
Think Like A Man
Why: The book doesn’t give me nearly as many laughs as the movie. Watch this one to learn how to turn the tables on men, and get a few one-liners on how to think like a man. Because we aren’t the only complicated ones.
