I admit I’ve put myself in crazy situations (college anyone?) where anything could have happened. I could have been raped or sexually assaulted. Because, though no means no, well, that isn’t always the case.
I’ve met dozens of women who’ve shared their tale of sexual abuse. Some are close friends. Many were too ashamed to come forward when it happened. A majority blame themselves because:
“I was drunk.”
“I went over to his place.”
“I teased him all night.”
In the end none of that matters. What does matter is consent, and the folks at Project Consent – a student-led nonprofit that “aims to combat and deconstruct rape culture” – are leading the charge with these videos demystify the simplicity of “no means no.”
Watch the videos of dancing private parts as they tackle sexual consent. In this one below, the dick tries to stick it in the vagina – while dancing. Um, that penis is taking Next’s “Too Close” song literally!
This one, however, is the most real: a penis whistles at the butt and then grabs said booty.
How many of you have experienced this? I know I have. The first time was at a college party. I was 18.
So, let’s educate our men. Plop your sons, nephews, brothers and male BFFs down and press play on all three videos. Hopefully, this helps men understand the simple concept of consent: it’s either yes, or no.
