Sometimes I feel like I’m the star of my very own telenovela. Not the evil villain; that role is reserved for the male characters who continuously play mind games. I play the role of Sujeiry Katerina del Monte Villafaña. The daughter of a poor farmer who turns out to be adopted and whose biological parents are hotel moguls that rule Mexico. I mean, the Dominican Republic. So, it came as no surprise that the plot between Jack or John and I thickened. Twists and turns are at the heart of telenovelas.
After Jack or John admitted to entering an alcohol program (see my previous columns), I agreed to meet him to “catch up.” The day of our date he sent me a text message that read: “What’s your status?” What’s my status? I thought. Was this a scene from an Al Pacino movie? Was he the supplier and I the drug dealer who was late to drop off his cash?
