The last time I send a sext was in the summer of 2014. It was sent to Boo pre-move in. We hadn’t seen each other in a while so I decided to spice things up. It did the trick as it should.
You see, sexting is all the rage these days. It’s a new form of communicating sexually, a new take on flirting. Plus, apps like Snapchat and WhatsApp make it easier to sext the object of your affection, and delete it right away to protect your privacy.
Still, I don’t sext as often as others or maybe as I should. Do you? Do you know everything there is to know about sexting? Like, is your mami sexting your papi? Are you considered a selfie sexting Queen? AdamandEve.com gave LoveSujeiry.com some insight on all things sexting. Here are some amazing facts and findings:
Women sext more than men.
Just by a little. 38 percent of American women admitted to sexting versus 32 percent of American men. Overall, 31 percent of people globally admitted to sending a sexy message.
You love sending sexy thoughts.
Sorry Selfie Queens, only 38 percent of men and women are sending sexy solo shots. Now, when it comes to sexting your secret fantasies, you are all very open! 95 percent of the people surveyed said that they sext their sexual ideas and thoughts. As for sexting parts of the body, only 35 percent admitted to sending explicit images. And many of you are shy when doing so – only 20 percent said they show their face in sexts. Which would prompt me to ask, “who’s this?”
You’re sexting your main squeeze.
Yes, couples are getting busy over text! 48 percent of women and 45 percent of men surveyed said that they sext their significant other. Others are also getting busy with their fingers, and sexting someone who isn’t their partner – that’s 25 percent of men and 16 percent of women. Wait, that could also mean people are cheating! Gulp. Yes! 10 percent of men and 5 percent of women admitted to sexting their significant other by mistake when the sext was intended for their lover.
A small percentage of you sext total strangers.
10 percent to be exact. But what’s the point, man?
Many of you have sext a family member.
So you sext your man and your mom answers: what do you mean by “put your finger in my hole?” Sorry Mami! According to Adam & Eve, 16 percent of men and 8 percent of women have sext a family member by mistake. Those numbers aren’t bad, ladies and gents.
Most of you began sexting as teenagers.
Well, from 19-29, which is a relief! 38 percent of people surveyed said this is the age range when they began to sext. And about your mami and papi: 22 percent of those admitted to sexting for the first time at age 40 or older. So you mom may know what that sext meant after all…
Sexting isn’t private.
And that’s because 60 percent of people who have received sexts keep the sexy images and texts on their phone. That’s a lot of sexy thangs on phones, guys! Make sure to erase and repeat! Or just keep your face (and that signature mole) out of sexy pics.
Sexting helps relationships.
You heard it hear first: sexting helps romantic relationships. 56 percent of people admitted that sexting has spiced up their love and improved their relationship overall. That’s because sexting is an easy and quick way to show your man that you desire him and are thinking about him. So, get busy with your fingers. Science says you really should.
