I’ve been living in NYC for a little over two years and met my current boyfriend pretty early on. In February, we’ll be celebrating our two year anniversary (with one break in between). I realize that he is a great guy – responsible, stable, long-term, safe, with a good job, and handsome. And he says he loves me. But I also realize he is boring!
Many times I find myself wishing he would step up and make things exciting, especially since there’s yet so much for me to discover in this city. I’m very tempted by other men that try to offer me that fun that I’m longing. So my dilemma is figuring out if this is a dealbreaker. I go out of my way to spice things up often and I give him ideas of things to do for me (with persistence). But should I give up a sure thing for moment-by-moment fun?
My Boyfriend Is a Dud (NYC)
Dear My Boyfriend Is a Dud,
My question to you is simple: do you love your boyfriend even if he’s not as exciting as Don Juan or Rico Suave? If you do, and he also loves you, momentary and fleeting excitement shouldn’t break up your relationship. Read the rest of Sujeiry’s advice on Loop21!
