I went on a date with a really great guy, he sent me a text after the date saying it was worth the 1hr drive (no sex, no kissing) and that I would def. hear back from him. It’s been 2 days and nothing. No text, call or message. Do I move on, or does that ridiculous 3-day rule still apply?
Dear 3-Day Rule,
From what it seems you had a great time. He said so; you said so. Now, all you hear is crickets.
I say don’t stress it. He did text you after the date so if he didn’t want anything to do with you he wouldn’t have contacted you at all. And, honestly, not hearing from a guy for 2 days isn’t that big of a deal, especially since he didn’t go MIA (the initial text).
Bottomline, give him time. Yes, some men still apply the 3-day rule, just like women apply the “I’m not calling a man first” rule (oh, those damn double standards!). Also, you’re questioning whether you should “move on” is a bit extreme. Just flow with it, and if you really want to talk to him or see whats up, text him yourself! As women, we tend to be hard and not meet a man halfway, mostly because we don’t want to seem needy or too into the guy. But a courtesy text is OK. It really won’t kill you!
So loosen up on the rules! Trust me, dating will be a lot easier and much more fun if you don’t analyze things and just enjoy the flow!
Love strongly and wisely,
