Time to Getaway? Do’s and Don’ts of Traveling with Friends

Vacay time! Yes, finally! You’ve worked hard for this and it is much deserved. And then what happens? Your hard earned vacation turns to mush and you are scraping to find some silver lining.

Unfortunately, this was me just a short week ago. My first time in the beautiful city of Chicago was only eh. Not exciting. I still had a wonderful time since I make the best of what I can, but there are some things I will do differently next time I get a break to ensure a better traveling experience.

Here are the do’s and don’ts of traveling with friends.

Do save your money. When you go out of town the last thing you really want to worry about is if you have enough money to get something you want or to spend on a nice dinner. You should just be able to splurge, splurge, splurge!

Don’t overpack. Nothing is worse than shoveling heavy belongings, especially if traveling a long distance. You’ll contemplate whether you should dump an item along the way. Not really, but, it may cross your mind once or twice.

Do take loads of good pictures. It is just as much fun to get back home and upload all of those pictures you took with some awesome scenery behind you. Just make sure you look cute or you’ll be saying “aww man!” and hitting the delete button.

Don’t be on someone else’s timetable. Basically, don’t plan your vacation based on your friends schedules. You won’t really have time to do what you want. Suggestion? Rent your own car so you can do everything you want when you want.

Do try all the food. Especially if you’re visiting another place with people of a different culture. You may like the food, you may not. But, no regrets!

Don’t expect everything to go smooth. You will end up disappointed and pouty. Moreover, you won’t be able to enjoy the good times.
