I’m sitting in the Lehman College auditorium watching a musical performance. One of my Achiever attends Celia Cruz High School for The Arts and I am here to show support. She is performing though I’m not sure if she’s actually talented. You know all kids today think they’re the next Nicki Minajes and Lauryn Hill’s when they’re more like Lola from La Esquina.
But I digress.
Listening to this “talent” makes me wonder what my life would be like today if I would have attended a school that honed my creativity. Would I be on my second Love Trips book? Would I have my very own radio show? Or would my demons, Sir Procrastination and Big Pendeja, push my voice to crack in the middle of a solo or plague me with writers block mid sentence. Who knows!
What I do know is that the saxophone player on stage needs a damn tune up and I have a month and nine days to finish Love Trips (the book). Pray that I don’t loose my hearing while I sit through these performances. That is all, pepitas…
