This has occurred in my journey. At 26, I began graduate school at Rowan University. Stuck in the middle of nowhere, also know as Clayton, NJ, I went through a breakup. With no family or friends near to comfort me, I took to writing. A blog began. Every emotional ache and pain published for the masses. Soon, I was offered an online column on MiGente, where I was paid to write about my relationship stumbles.
“Love Trips” was a success, and I was elated. I didn’t know where this would lead. I had no idea this baby step would lead to a full on marathon of work as a writer and multimedia entertainer.
But it did.
In 2008, after 2 years of writing “Love Trips” for MiGente, I transitioned to SiTV, where I was a ghostwriter and a relationship blogger. In 2009, I took a long stride and began Lovemionline. Though short lived, my role of managing and editing writers and running a website expanded possibilities, including event planning, networking, and an interview with Lisa Mateo on the PIX Morning News.
Now, here I am in 2011 as writer, blogger, and entertainer on LoveSujeiry.com. The number of unique visitors has increased. My passion inextinguishable. My business sense and network expanding. Opportunity continues to fall on my lap because I work hard, am talented and grateful for the little steps. I am grateful even when things are short term, like my internship with El Vacilon of La Mega. I was able to get on air numerous times and that is a start. And then there’s my most recent appearance on Telemundo. Little did I know that an email via Facebook from Patti Murillo-Casa would lead to a television appearance in support of Patti and her mission – to spread awareness on the causes and prevention of cervical cancer.
But it did.
Because every step, no matter how small, leads to somewhere.
