From Kindle to digital media to news articles, I am an avid reader who loves to soak up information on just about anything – and one of my favorite topics is sex. I love creating conversations about sex, sex issues and sexual identity. However, some women don’t feel comfortable speaking about sex or choose not to the dish without extensive research.
Books are a great way to gather information, insight and courage through words. If you’re not sure what books to add to your Amazon wish list, here’s a must-read list of books to improve your love and sex life.
Chapman has worked as a marriage counselor for more than 30 years, using his extensive knowledge to rebuild the bridge in drifting marriages. He has authored many books on love and how to rekindle the dying flames.
In this book, he suggests five love languages: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch.
- Words of Affirmation: a lover who craves attention or regular praise
- Quality Time: a partner who prefers to ‘Netflix and Chill’
- Receiving Gifts: a significant other who loves being gifted things, like flowers, dinners, etc.
- Acts of Service: someone who sees doing laundry or fixing the car as a display of love
- Physical Touch: a person who values holding hands, back rubs or sexual contact
If you’re unsure of the love dialect(s( spoken by yourself or your lover, this book uses questionnaires, real-life examples and detailed reports on each type of language.
Nagoski is a girl boss with a PhD is Health Behavior with a doctoral concentration in human sexuality, a master’s degree in counseling and a clinical internship at the Kinsey Institute Sexual Health Clinic. I deeply appreciate this book because not only does it stress the important of pleasing a woman, but it also breaks it down to a science. She suggests that every woman has her own unique sexuality and that women vary more than men in our anatomy, sexual response mechanisms and the way our bodies respond to the sexual world. She proves this by using groundbreaking research and brain science.
Kerner is a Clinical Sexology doctor who uses this book to dispel common myths associated with oral sex. This guide encourages men to achieve a more fulfilling sex life for themselves and their partners by enhancing a man’s ability to orally please his woman. She Comes First is a great guide for men who experience trouble when helping their partner climax. It’s also a great read for women who would like tips on how to improve their man’s ability to please them.
I absolutely adore this book and author more than all the other works previously listed. If you prefer a humorous, relatable approach to sex, I would highly suggest viewing Boodram’s YouTube channel in addition to purchasing her book. She’s an experienced sexologist who focuses on important topics for millennials. In this anthology, she creates conversations and documents experiences from teens and 20-something’s on subjects such as STIs, abstinence and unplanned pregnancies.
