I love my brown skin. My natural Latina belleza shines even brighter during spring and summer. Unfortunately, this is the time when my skin is most sensitive. Thanks to my allergies I have had to cancel on events last minute.
I remember breaking out in hives while on vacation in South Beach. While my girlfriends were salsaing the night away at a club on Ocean Drive, I was tending to my puffy, blown up face. Needless to say, I didn’t get any man action that night! Who’d want to kiss a gal who looks like a goldfish?
This is a common occurrence for women. According to a recent survey by the makers of #ZYRTEC, nearly half of women suffering from #ALLERGYFACE miss out on something like a party or a date because of their allergy-related beauty challenges. That’s why the makers of #ZYRTEC have partnered with beauty and fashion expert, Carmen Ordoñez from www.VivaFashionBlog.com to help women combat #ALLERGYFACE – beauty challenges like a puffy face, watery eyes and a red nose that are associated with typical allergy symptoms.

Here are some simple do-it-yourself beauty solutions to help women tackle allergy-related beauty challenges during the warm summer months.
Combating a Puffy Face
- Drink plenty of water each day to help keep your skin hydrated.
- Rub an ice cube over your face before applying your makeup.
Reducing the Appearance of Watery Eyes
- Apply navy blue or cobalt mascara to help the whites of your eyes appear brighter.
- Less is more! Don’t overdo it with too much makeup.
Other Makeup Tips
Eyes: Use an eyelash curler before applying mascara to help “wake up” your #ALLERGYFACE. Using a curler will make your eyes look wide open, so you look fresh and awake.
Nose: If your nose is irritated and dry, avoid putting on foundation, which can look caked on. Instead apply a rich moisturizer and let it dry.
Face: To help reduce the appearance of #ALLERGYFACE, place a cold, damp cloth on your face for 10 minutes.
As for me, like Carmen, I use the cold to soothe my allergies. Aloe vera is also a savior. That’s what I used that night in South Beach. 24 hours later and I was as good as new, and ready for a salsa smooch.
