I get such a great laugh from articles that poke fun at really bad texters. It’s probably because I am one of those people. With my phone constantly on vibrate or on my charger I miss about 75% of incoming alerts, messages, and emails that come through my trusty iPhone 5. The ones I do have the opportunity to read I often answer in my head – meaning I actually never type out a reply.
I may be pretty bad at it but some of my friends may be even worse. Lisa Marshall, a 23-year old out of Grand Prairie, TX admits that she constantly wonders why she doesn’t receive texts, but “then I realize I never sent a message or response in the first place!” she says. On the other hand, my younger brother is so indifferent to texting he leaves the READ receipt on to let friends know he has read their messages. A typical guy, he only responds when he’s good and ready. That has to be pretty annoying to most, especially me.
This little lady is also pretty picky about the art of texting in this digital age. For one, I hate the letter ‘k’ as a response with a passion. But we all have our little pet peeves. I’ve decided to investigate the male and female do’s and don’ts of texting for this ‘age of texting’ that we now live in.
Do use emojis.
Sprucing up that white font color against the blue background of your iMessage is plenty fun. Especially when you take so much time and consideration in finding the perfect emoji. Get extra creative when conversing with a certain cutie. Photo Credit: Flickr.com/jk-keller.
And that’s that – the do’s and don’ts of texting for this digital age. Text savvy, y’all! 😉
