3 Reasons Millennial Women Are Saying No Thanks to Sex

Contrary to popular belief, millennial women are having less sex then their mommas.

When I think of millennial women I assume they’re getting booty butt naked and going buck wild. They’re Instragram feeds are often full of asset-revealing seflies, and with dating apps like Tinder and shows like HBO’s “Girls,” how are they not influenced to get freaky every chance that they get?

It turns out that millennial women are saying no thanks to sex. According to a study by the University College London, most twenty something year old women have had an average of 8 sexual partners. Compare that to 11, which is the average number of partners for women in the 1950’s and 60’s, and it makes you wonder, what gives? The study also concluded that single millennial women have sex about 4 to 5 times a month while 10 years ago women had sex 6 times a month.

Why are millennial women keeping their legs closed? Apparently, it has little to do with a lack of libido and more to do with external forces. The reasons the study gives includes:

Blame the media.

Since birth, millennials have been bombarded by sexual images. That’s because they are growing up in the digital age. From Instagram to Vine to YouTube to Snapchat, advertisers find ways to push their agenda, and often times they sell sex, sex, sex.  Because of the images that are constantly portrayed of female perfection and sexual prowess , millennial women are more anxious to do the deed. They fear not measuring up to these absurd standards. So they have less sex.

Focusing on work.

Millennial women are all about the money, honey. Unlike women in the 1950’s, women of today are raised to be ambitious, driven and to bring home the bacon. If sex gets in the way of that, no nooky will be had.

Fear of STI’s.

While growing up, I remember learning about herpes and chlamydia in sex education class. Now, millennial women have HPV, HIV and pretty much a dozen or so more infections to be weary of when engaging in sex. To avoid this, they just say no – to sex.
