They say love is blind. It has to be to assure people remain together for decades. Still, I can’t imagine waking up to a prune of a husband where there was once a ripe tomato. The horror I will feel when his pene shrinks and my pepa™ dries up. But what can one do? As I say, saggy boobs and a mushy ass is part of life.
Loving the person, however, is much more crucial than embracing aging. If you don’t adore, respect, and desire your partner, then you won’t remain with your partner when he or she is poor, raggedy, and walking around with a frown and cane. Unconditional love won’t allow you to walk away from a relationship. It keeps you by their side, patient and supportive. It may lead to marriage even when good looks have faded, replaced by a wonk eye and dimples on our thighs instead of cheeks.
Case in point: the two viejitas that were married on Sunday, July 24th, the first day that gay marriage was allowed in New York state. New York city residents Phyllis Siegel, 77, and Connie Kopelov, 85, have been together for 23 years and were the first couple to marry in NYC.
This beautiful photo inspires me and convinces me that true love, unconditional love, does exist. It even comforts me a little regarding old lady pepa™. Sure, she may become wrinkly, saggy, and may need a whole lot a lube to moisten. But a woman will love me still!

Every time I see a picture of these ladies or read about them, I start crying. Tears of joy that they were finally able to get married, a tear of anger and disappointment that it took so damn long.

I had the pleasure of seeing my BFF marry his partner on Sunday. There was so much love in the room, it was beautiful. There were quite a few older couples there, it was extremely moving.
