Live at S.I.P with Alyi V, Lyndsay Christian & Meme Brown
I’m always excited to attend an empowerment event. When I get the invite in my Inbox I get as giddy as if I were invited to the most luxurious bar/lounge on Miami Beach. It’s that big of deal. My fiancé, however, doesn’t get it.
“Do you have fun at these things?” Boo asks. “Aren’t you just networking?” he goes on. Yes and yes.
Thing is I thrive on connecting with women. I’d starve without it. Which is why I skipped along at the chance to attend and cover Sisters in Power (S.I.P) at the Marquis Hotel in Times Square, an event for women by women to learn a thing or two about career, money and relationships. I had the honor to interview TV Anchor and Host, Lyndsay Christian, SiriusXM Host, Alyi V, and Author and Spiritual Muse, Dr. Meme Brown. These women excited me as we have much in common – besides our lady parts.
Some gems from the panelists:
Focus on your purpose and at some point that purpose and passage will fuse and that’s when it all comes together. – Lyndsay Christian
It’s not always easy to believe this, especially when you’re struggling financially and going through it (and by “it” I mean all the shit that occurs when finding our path). But, you have to stay firm and clear.
You have to follow your dreams and you have to be consistent. – Alyi V
Consistency is key to everything in life. Whether you’re working a PA job and want to be on-air or you have yet to meet a man online but don’t give up on that POF or Match app, what matters is that you keep plowing ahead, that you know your character, and that you show the world who you are.
[Knowing yourself] is not what someone else tells you or the labels that someone else puts on you. It’s about the work you put in for yourself. – Dr. Meme Brown
Now, why wouldn’t I skip, hop and jump at the opportunity to attend S.I.P and other women empowerment events? Exactly. Officially empowered and inspired by these amazing women.
